Buying Pearl Ribbon Necklace Online

Buying a pearl ribbon necklace online should not pose much of a problem even though there are a number of scams in operation. One just has to exercise a fair degree of care when approaching an online pearl shop and needs to ask for and obtain an expert jewelry association sellers testimonials. In addition, one needs to check out the shipping charges and make a search on the World Wide Web for customer reviews, as this will provide valuable feedback about the online seller. Furthermore, have the pearl ribbon necklace insured in one of these three types of insurances that are available return value insurance, valued at insurance, or actual cash value insurance.

The pearl ribbon necklace can, after careful investigation, be purchased safely from online stores and also requires that one evaluate the pearl ribbon necklace for any defects before actually purchasing one. Clarity of the necklace is one important facet that requires grading before making the purchases and it also means that the pearl ribbon necklace should not have any inclusions and flaws, which can easily be seen by the naked eye.

Accuracy of a Pearl Ribbon Necklace

Most people are under the mistaken impression that accuracy of the pearl ribbon necklace actually means assessing its clarity, but this is different to the actual meaning of accuracy of the pearls. In fact, accuracy actually points to how imperfect; both internally and externally, is the pearl necklace. The best pearl ribbon necklace has no imperfections and is graded as FL (flawless) or IF (internally flawless), which means that it is technically correct. Grades of I-1, I-2, and I-3 imply that the pearl necklace is inappropriate, with I-3 being the least appropriate of all.

Cut of the Pearl Necklace

There are many different types of cuts to the necklace from which one can make a choice, and the cut really refers to the shape of the pearl, which in turn governs the amount of sparkle that the pearl will impart on the ribbon necklace. A pearl ribbon necklace can be worn for almost any occasion, and its use varies from casual wear to being the perfect ornament for bridesmaids and prom goers.

When purchasing a pearl necklace a few points need to be taken into consideration, such as the recipients age, type of body, taste in style, and personal considerations. This is because different people need different types of pearl ribbon necklaces. Younger people may look good in short strands and small pearls, while mature women may be able to carry off larger pearls. Short strands may best offset long necks, while longer necklaces may accentuate short necks. It is all a matter of personal choice, and so each person has to decide what suits them best.

Black Pearls: The Antidote to Convention

Pearls signal refinement and elegance perhaps more than any other single accessory. A string of uniform white pearls on June Cleavers neck told us she was a woman of quality, a woman her husband could be proud to take to the bosss house for dinner. Englands Queen Elizabeth, the very epitome of privilege and etiquette, is almost never seen without a string of pearls.

Not every woman fits that picture, though. If you love nice things, but the message youd rather give the world is one of inscrutability, a message that you cant be pinned down, that the one thing anyone can know for sure about you is that you will never be boring, try a string of rare black pearls.

What Are Black Pearls?

Black pearls are formed in a particular type of oyster, the black-lipped oyster, which is native to the South Pacific. Extremely rare throughout history, black pearls are now more common thanks to cultivation techniques that allow mass production. Cultivation is the process of seeding oysters to induce them to produce pearls. This has brought the price down into the budget of the average jewelry buyer. Black pearls are still far less common than white or pink pearls, though.

Black pearls are not a true black, instead the color generally has a dark gray base with overtones that may include blues, greens, purples, and even red. Black pearls generally have a high luster, making the many overtones shimmer like opals. White pearls can be stained to appear to be black pearls, so be sure to purchase from a reputable jeweler, or ask for an authentication.

Care of Black Pearls

Pearls should be wiped with a soft cloth after wearing to remove skin oils from them. You should also avoid exposing the pearls to hair spray, perfume, soaps and detergents, as all of these chemicals can cause damage to the pearls. Never use abrasives of any kind to clean pearls, as this will remove the luster and rub away the pearl itself. Also, being creatures of the sea, pearls hate long term exposure to dry air. If you live in a dry climate, be sure to take special care storing your pearls.

Adorn yourself with the very embodiment of mystery, uniqueness, and that special quality that the white pearled women cant admit that they want. A woman that can wear black pearls deserves to wear them proudly.

America in Drug Rhab

In 2004, approximately 22.5 million Americans aged 12 or older needed treatment for substance (alcohol or illicit drug) abuse and addiction. Of these, only 3.8 million people received it. (National Sruvey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 2004 )

Untreated substance abuse and addiction add significant costs to families and communities, including those related to violence and property crimes, prison expenses, court and criminal costs, emergency room visits, healthcare utilization, child abuse and neglect, lost child support, foster care and welfare costs, reduced productivity, and unemployment.

The latest estimate for the costs to society of illicit drug rehab alone is $181 billion (2002). When combined with alcohol and tobacco costs, they exceed $500 billion including healthcare, criminal justice, and lost productivity. Successful drug rehab treatment can help reduce this cost; crime; and the spread of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and other infectious diseases. It is estimated that for every dollar spent on addiction treatment programs, there is a $4 to $7 reduction in the cost of drug-related crimes. With some outpatient programs, total savings can exceed costs by a ratio of 12:1.

Finding an Antique Pearl Pendant

Historians say the pearl must have been the first gem treasured by humans. Before people had the tools to cut and polish rocks, they knew of the luminous pearl to be found in mussels in both fresh and salt water.

The mussel is an animal protected by two hard shells that it opens and closes to move or feed. Sometimes, a small particle of debris gets stuck in the mussels body and irritates it. The mussel cannot expel the irritant, so it secretes a substance called nacre to coat the offending particle. Nacre is the same material that lines the inside of the shell: mother-of-pearl.

Though there are thousands of species of mussels that can produce pearls, in nature, only one pearl might be produced in a colony of thousands of mussels. Therefore, most pearls today are cultured pearls. That is, farmers raise mussels in undersea beds and implant each of them with a little seed, which, some of the time, results in a pearl.

But Why Antique?

In as much as a pearl comes from an animal, demand for pearls often hurts the animal population. Freshwater pearl farmers for example, often take mussels from the wild to put on their farms. Thus, another animal is removed from the ecosystem. Real antique pearls were harvested years ago and cause no new strain on the environment.

Besides that, an antique pearl pendant is often of fine quality, made before pearls were artificially dyed and when jewelry was made by craftsmen. Who knows whose neck it has graced and the history it has seen?

On the high end of the market, a pearl fancier recently scooped up a necklace with a pearl pendant at a Sothebys auction for almost $100,000. Lower-priced Sothebys auctions for pearl pendant jewelry will run about $500.

So let us try eBay. If youre dealing with a reputable online dealer, you can find excellent merchandise at reasonable prices. Even with a similar pearl pendant, the eBay price finishes lower because it sells to a different market segment. A nice quality antique pearl pendant can start as low as $50 and top out about $500, but be sure your dealer has a good reputation. It is awful to receive the object of your online auction and find it to be sub par.

At a specialty antique or antique jewelry store, you will have the assurance of a well-vetted item that you can handle yourself before you buy. Some dealers may even let you take that pearl pendant to a jeweler for evaluation if you leave a deposit. The cost will be higher, but you might find out something interesting that is worth the extra money.

Looking for Your String of Pearls

Pearls have long been valued for their beauty and perfection, and the main image of their collection is in a string of pearls. Yet most people have never had the opportunity to really understand the process of growing, grading, and selecting that goes into a top-quality string of pearls.

Selecting Your String of Pearls.

It is important to have some basic understanding of a pearl and just from just where it comes. The majority of pearls these days are cultured, which means that the oyster beds are maintained on a farm that makes sure the oysters are seeded. In the wild, not every oyster holds a pearl, but only when an irritant finds its way into the shell, such as a grain of sand. In a reaction to this, the oyster starts depositing calcium carbonate in the form of aragonite and biological secretions. Some oysters, like the black-lipped Pinctatada Margaritifera, add a particular thing that set their pearls apart, in this case the rare black pearl.

Selection begins right after harvesting and continues all the way until you select your string of pearls. Just after harvest, all the pearls that dont have a complete coat covering the seed or the nucleus, or have a milky loss of pigment, are ruled out immediately. After that, they are judged based on smoothness, shape, and size. In the black pearl example from above this can range from a basic pearl at about a hundred dollars each, to the best and largest at over ten thousand for each pearl. So it is obvious just how important this selection process can be and just how much it can affect the final price of your string of pearls.

We come down to your string of pearls and just how and where to get them. The Internet has opened up the options to the modern buyer of pearls. This range of choice has, in some ways, actually made the process of selecting your string of pearls even more tricky. It is important to first select a dealer that is reputable, and then you can begin the selection process from there. This should start with just why you are getting your string of pearls. Are you looking for a finished necklace, or a shorter strand that can have pearls added to mark special occasions, such as anniversaries. From there, you can begin testing among the strands of that type, and beginning to find the one with the smoothest and most uniform coating.

Hopefully, this has helped as you look for your string of pearls. The most important part of your choice is to find the string that best fits your needs.

The Four Factors for Judging a Pearl Bracelet

Many people know the four Cs for judging the quality of a diamond set into jewelry: color, cut, clarity, and carat weight. Gemologists, jewelers, and connoisseurs have four traits they look for in a pearl, too. The letters may not be as easy to remember as four Cs, but to figure out the value of a pearl bracelet, you will need to think about four factors.

Luster

Professional Jeweler Magazine says luster is the combination of a high, reflective sheen on the surface of a pearl combined with an almost three-dimensional glow that seems to emanate from within the heart of a pearl. It may sound abstract, but once youve seen it, its simple. Ask a jeweler to let you examine a very expensive pearl bracelet beside a less expensive one; the contrast will be obvious. (Luckily for the bargain shopper, you dont have to wear a pricey pearl next to an ordinary one.)

There is some chemistry behind different lusters. A pearl is made of layers of nacre, the substance an oyster secretes to form both pearls and mother-of-pearl, and nacre is actually made of layer upon layer of regularly arranged crystals. A healthier clam makes more nicely arranged crystals, and the more layers of nacre on a pearl, the nicer it will look.

A pearl bracelet probably takes more abuse than a necklace or earring, so with this jewelry, luster is doubly important. Good luster is indicative of thick nacre. Some less-expensive pearls have such thin nacre that it can scratch off easily. Look for the luster!

Shape

A perfectly spherical pearl is a rather rare thing. Luckily jewelers know how to use all pearl shapes in lovely jewelry. A pearl that is flattish on one side will go nicely mounted in a broach. And several strings of baroque (irregular) jewels make a fine, modern-style, pearl bracelet.

Color

Pearls are available in more than white, off white, and black. If your taste prefers it, take a pearl bracelet in pink, blue, green, or lavender. These colors actually occur naturally in some species of freshwater oyster. However, many more pearls are dyed and tinted. Ask the jeweler how his pearls got their color; if its natural, thats a higher price.

Size

A bigger pearl always commands a higher price than its cousin of the same quality. Gemologists classify pearls with a diameter over 8mm as very large.

Criminal Rehab Treatment

Treatment within the drug rehab criminal justice system can succeed in preventing an offender’s return to criminal behavior, particularly when treatment continues as the person transitions back into the community. Studies show that treatment does not need to be voluntary to be effective. Research from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration suggests that treatment can cut drug rehab in half, reduce criminal activity up to 80 percent, and reduce arrests up to 64 percent.
